I find the seasons to be sacred. After all, they do support life and each season has a specific job to do. Spring is probably my favorite because I adore flowers, birds, butterflies, bees, and just how the Earth burst forth with color and life.
The eyeball heart is my take on a Sacred Heart. My hearts and eyes are sculpted from paper clay and a fixed to a paper covered vintage doll body. Several layers of paint give the torso a weathered appearance. The little bouquet is comprised of handmade paper flowers and leaves. I handmade the viola’s the dandelion and a set of leaves. The rest are paper flowers I purchased and altered to suit the piece. I searched high and low for these arched wood bases because I just couldn’t find a base that made the peace feel sacred. I believe these did the job. Each base is hand painted, and a piece of vintage botanical paper from an old garden book Is decoupaged & further antiqued. Each piece has a hanger on the back and a sign of dated.
I created five of these torso pieces for this collection and the two are like. Each piece is 12 inches long and 7 1/2 inches wide.
